Pilgrim Walking

Sometimes I find it difficult to take the next step. I become comfortable where I am and settled in my comfort zone. The other day I had an insight into how that might be. The step from one level to another is often a big step. Learning to walk can be a long job. It's so easy to walk, I've been walking more than sixty years,of course I know how to walk. Look at this though, walking involves standing on one leg, stepping from solid ground to an unknown place. The unknown could contain any number of threats or hazards, who knows. However, here's a thing, trust and practice. Trust the ground, practise the walking. From one step to the next a rhythm develops,a flow,a balance. Eventually, progress is made, movement happens organically , less effort is needed ,effortless becomes natural.

The old Zen masters used to say, when sitting, just sit. When walking, just walk. Above all don't wobble.

So let's keep walking, and when we meet on the path, let's sit a while and share our sandwiches .

(Just a thought )
